About Ryan P.
Ryan P. Dillon grew up studying politics and world affairs before turning to law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Indianapolis in 2002. He later completed his Juris Doctor at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, receiving his degree in 2008.
After law school, Dillon moved quickly into private practice. In 2008 he established Dillon Legal Group, P.C., taking on the duties of owner and president. He built that practice around litigation and client representation across several areas of state law. Over the years he has maintained the firm while also accepting roles in the public sector.
Dillon’s early public service included work as a public defender in Morgan County in 2009. He returned to public defense in 2014 when he served as the public defender for Brown County. Those positions placed him in court regularly and required swift case assessment and courtroom advocacy. They also exposed him to the practical pressures of indigent defense and local court procedures.
He is admitted to practice in Indiana and also holds admission to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Dillon is a Registered Civil and Domestic Relations Mediator in Indiana, a credential that adds an alternative dispute resolution option to his practice. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and has belonged to the Johnson County and Morgan County bar associations since the early years of his career.
Outside the courtroom, community involvement has been a steady part of Dillon’s life. He has deep ties to youth organizations. He served in several leadership roles with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, including committee chair, assistant scoutmaster, and as president of a local Firecrafter Alumni Association. He has also been active with the Girl Scouts as a co-troop leader. Those roles reflect long-term volunteer commitments rather than one-off appearances.
Colleagues and clients see a practitioner who balances trial work, mediation, and local court experience. He runs a small firm and continues to handle a range of matters through Dillon Legal Group, P.C. His current practice centers on litigation, trial representation, and mediations in state courts, and he accepts cases in jurisdictions where he is admitted to practice.
