About Ryan

Ryan Okabe graduated from Boston College in 1993 and earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, in 1998. He completed his formal legal education at a time when the Los Angeles legal market was changing rapidly. Those formative years placed him in a network of practitioners who would shape his early career choices.

Shortly after finishing law school, Okabe entered private practice. By 2001 he was a general partner at Okabe & Haushalter. He has remained with that firm since, steering cases and managing the day-to-day work that small firms require. His name is attached to the firm’s listings and he handles matters that come through its offices in the Los Angeles area.

Okabe is licensed to practice in California. He is active in local and national professional groups. Since 2005 he has held memberships in the Japanese American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the South Bay Bar Association. Those memberships reflect recurring involvement in bar activities, CLE offerings and professional networks across the county and the state.

Over the years his practice has often intersected with criminal defense. His membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers signals regular engagement with criminal law topics and defense practice. At the same time, his participation in local bar groups ties him to broader civil and administrative issues that affect clients in the South Bay and greater Los Angeles region.

Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic in the handling of client matters. He favors clear explanations over legalese. That approach suits clients who must make quick decisions under pressure and want direct counsel. It also fits the rhythm of a firm where partners share management duties and allocate work across a small team.

Okabe balances courtroom work with client counseling and case management. He spends time preparing pleadings, negotiating resolutions and representing individuals in court when needed. He also maintains ties to community and professional organizations that keep him plugged into changes in practice and procedure.

He practices law in California at Okabe & Haushalter, where he concentrates on criminal defense and related client matters.
