About Ryan M.

Ryan M. Johnson built his legal foundation across two campuses and a span of years that map neatly onto his practice areas. He earned a B.S. in Business Finance from Brigham Young University in 2005 and completed his J.D. at the University of Oregon in 2009. Those degrees inform the work he does now—where law and practical financial matters often intersect.

He began his career in Oregon soon after finishing law school. In 2009 he joined Johnson & Taylor and is listed as a partner. Over the years he has maintained ties to the state bar and local legal community. He holds certification as a Family Law and Personal Injury Lawyer from the Oregon State Bar and has been a member of the Family Law Section since 2009.

Johnson’s practice centers on two areas of everyday legal conflict. Family law matters occupy a large portion of his caseload. He handles divorce and related proceedings, addressing issues such as child custody, support and property division. He also takes on personal injury matters, representing clients who seek damages for injuries sustained in accidents and other incidents.

His work requires juggling sensitive personal issues and concrete legal claims. He appears in Oregon courts and works with experts and opposing counsel to resolve disputes. The combination of family law and personal injury practice shapes the rhythms of his work: some cases demand negotiation and mediation, others require motion practice and trial preparation.

Outside the courtroom he participates in professional groups that keep him plugged into developments in family law. His ongoing membership in the Family Law Section is one way he stays current on rules and trends that affect clients across the state. The certification from the state bar signals an added layer of credentialing in the areas he handles.

Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer whose path from finance studies to law school has left him comfortable with both numbers and narratives. He applies that background when assessing settlements, calculating support and evaluating damages. Today he practices at Johnson & Taylor in Oregon, where he continues to handle family law and personal injury matters.
