About Ryan B.

Ryan B. Tiede earned his B.A. in political science from Azusa Pacific University in 2008 and completed his J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law in 2011. His academic path combined an interest in public policy with formal legal training. That background shaped an early turn toward public service and cross-sector legal work.

After law school Tiede took roles that bridged advocacy, policy and administration. He served as a Government Relations Fellow at the International Justice Mission in 2012 and returned to that organization as a Legal Fellow in 2014. Between those fellowships he worked in healthcare administration as a Contract Coordinator for Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions in 2015. Those positions exposed him to legislative processes, client-facing legal tasks and the operational side of public-interest work.

In 2016 he moved into prosecutorial work, serving as a Deputy District Lawyer in Tulare County. The role placed him in courtroom settings and in the everyday work of a county prosecutor’s office. He later joined the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Lawyer in 2019. Those years in county offices foregrounded criminal practice and the responsibilities of government litigation.

Tiede is admitted to practice in California and North Carolina. He has been a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association since 2011 and served on the California Rural Crime Prevention Task Force from 2017 to 2018. The combination of bar involvement and task-force work reflects ongoing engagement with local legal communities and law-enforcement initiatives.

He moved into private practice as an associate at Thurman, Wilson, Boutwell & Galvin, P.A. That transition brought prosecutorial experience into a civil and criminal defense environment. His resume includes public-sector litigation, administrative contracting and legal fellowship work, which together inform how he approaches case assessment and courtroom strategy.

Tiede’s career shows movement between nonprofit advocacy, government service and private practice. He has spent time drafting pleadings, appearing in court and handling administrative contract matters. Those varied roles contribute to a practical understanding of how cases proceed from intake to resolution.

He currently practices at Thurman, Wilson, Boutwell & Galvin, P.A., handling matters that draw on his prosecutorial background and public-sector experience.
