About Ruchee
Ruchee Patel began her path to law after earning a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2000. She stayed in the South for law school and received her J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 2004. Those early academic choices combined business training and legal study, shaping an approach to practice that pays attention to both strategy and detail.
After law school she established her career in Tennessee. Over the years she built a practice grounded in state court work and criminal defense matters. Her professional memberships reflect that focus. She has belonged to the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2011 and has been a member of the Memphis Bar Association since 2007. She also served on the board of the Tennessee Asian Pacific American Bar Association beginning in 2008 and remains active there.
Patel’s involvement extends beyond core bar groups. She served on the board of Memphis Lawyers for the Arts from 2008 to 2010, a period when the organization worked on access and engagement projects for artists and arts organizations. Earlier in her career she held memberships in the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bar Association from 2007 through 2010, and she was part of the Association of Women Lawyers between 2007 and 2009. Those roles gave her a mix of practice-focused and community-oriented perspectives.
Her work is grounded in courtroom experience and client counseling. She handles arraignments, motions practice, trials and appeals at the state level. She prepares defenses, negotiates pleas when clients choose that avenue and represents people at trial when cases proceed. Colleagues describe her as detail-oriented in preparation and steady in court. Her background in marketing and international business informs how she explains legal options to clients, breaking down complex issues into practical steps.
In recent years Patel has practiced at Donati Law PLLC in Tennessee. There she continues to handle criminal matters and related litigation. She maintains active ties to local legal organizations and stays involved in issues affecting access to justice in Memphis and the wider Tennessee legal community.
She is admitted to practice in Tennessee and remains active in bar and civic groups. Her current practice concentrates on criminal defense and state-court litigation matters.
