About Ronald S.
Ronald S. Cook built a legal education that spans business and law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in economics and finance from the University of Hartford in 1990. He then completed an MBA at Dowling College in 1993. Later he attended New York Law School, where he was awarded both a J.D. and an LL.M.
Cook’s training set the stage for a practice anchored in New York. He is admitted to practice in New York and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He has handled matters that require both state and federal filings and appearances. Over the years he has combined business training and advanced legal study to address transactional and adjudicative aspects of client matters.
His early career moved between counseling businesses and representing individuals. That background in finance and business administration informs his approach to legal problems. It also shaped the kinds of cases he takes, many of which involve financial restructuring, creditor-debtor relations and litigation that touches on business interests. Colleagues note he brings a practical bent to case strategy and document preparation.
Cook maintains a multi-office presence across the New York region. He works from offices in Manhattan, Westchester, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk County. The spread of offices reflects a practice that serves both city clients and communities on Long Island and in the suburbs north of the city. He also maintains an online practice presence for client intake and information.
Court work accounts for a portion of his time. Admission to the Second Circuit allows him to argue appeals when they arise. He has experience drafting briefs, handling court motions and appearing in bankruptcy and other court proceedings. His combined JD and LL.M. education gives him additional training in legal research and writing, which he uses in appellate and complex trial work.
Today he operates a practice that serves individuals and businesses across New York. He handles matters tied to financial distress, creditor relations and related litigation, and he regularly appears in state and federal courts, including appellate proceedings in the Second Circuit. He currently practices bankruptcy and related financial litigation from offices in Manhattan, Westchester, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk County.
