About Ronald L.
Ronald L. Bell earned his Bachelor of Arts from Lake Forest College in 1976 and completed his Juris Doctor at The John Marshall Law School in 1980. Soon after law school he became admitted to practice in Illinois and later secured admission to the United States Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit. Those early credentials set the stage for a career that has moved between public service and private practice.
He spent time in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, serving as Assistant Attorney General and working as an attorney in the office. In 1982 he accepted an appointment as a special prosecutor in DuPage County, a short-term role that placed him in the courtroom on behalf of the state. Membership in the Illinois State Bar Association has been continuous since 1980, reflecting a long-standing connection to the state bar community.
Alongside public roles, Bell established a private practice under the name Ronald L. Bell & Associates P.C. Records show him working at that firm beginning in 1980, and the firm has been a central platform for his legal work. He has maintained involvement in professional organizations beyond the state bar. He was a member of the National Association of Distinguished Counsel from 2016 to 2017.
His professional recognitions include listings from Trail Masters and a Top 100 Best Trial Lawyer designation in Illinois from the American Academy of Trial Lawyers.
