Ronald W. Makarem is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1995. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Makarem is the founder and principal attorney at Makarem & Associates, a law firm located in Los Angeles, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout California.
Mr. Makarem earned his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1995. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Southern California, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1992, graduating cum laude. During his time at USC, he was recognized for his academic excellence.
Mr. Makarem concentrates his practice in the areas of legal malpractice, employment law, and consumer protection. He represents individuals in matters involving sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and class action litigation. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Makarem has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Supreme Court. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as a partner at Ruben & Makarem, a law firm in Los Angeles.
Mr. Makarem is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and the Consumer Attorneys of California. He is also a certified legal malpractice specialist by the California State Bar. In 2012, he received the CLAY award for "Attorney of the Year" by California Lawyer Magazine for his work on a landmark California Supreme Court case. In 2015, he was honored with the AALASC Trailblazer Award, recognizing attorneys who have demonstrated vision, courage, and tenacity in their practice. Mr. Makarem is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Los Angeles County effectively.
