About Rod
Rod Caruco earned his B.A. from the University of Central Florida in 2006 and his J.D. from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2010. He entered the legal world straight out of law school and found work that paired courtroom procedure with research and writing. That early period shaped how he approaches cases today.
After graduation he served as a law clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in 2010. The clerkship placed him inside a specialized appellate setting, where he gained firsthand exposure to military appellate procedure. Two years later he took a commission as a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force. His time on active duty placed him in a system that blends military regulations and criminal law.
Following his military service he moved into private practice. He joined Boyd & Jenerette, P.A. as a senior associate in 2023. Later that same year he founded Caruco Law, PLLC. The move to open his own firm reflected a desire to handle cases end to end, from investigation through trial and appeal.
Caruco is admitted to practice in several federal and military courts. His admissions include the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and district courts in the Middle, Southern, and Northern Districts of Florida. Those credentials allow him to take cases at trial level and pursue appeals across multiple forums.
Professional associations have been a part of his practice since 2010. He joined organizations aligned with criminal defense work and DUI practice in 2024, including the National College for DUI Defense, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He maintains those memberships as part of his ongoing professional activity.
His caseload reflects the mix of admissions and experience. He handles matters that arise in state and federal courts, and he accepts cases that implicate military justice and appellate issues. He is comfortable moving between fact development at trial and the legal analysis required on appeal.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. He balances written advocacy with oral argument, drawing on his clerkship and military practice to frame legal issues for judges and juries. He concentrates his practice on criminal defense, DUI representation, federal litigation and appeals, and military justice matters.
