About Robert
Robert Tsigler took a conventional path into law but shaped it to his interests. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany in 2006. He then completed his J.D. at New York Law School in 2009. Those years gave him classroom grounding in criminal law and the practical instincts that often steer courtroom work.
After law school he moved into court and office settings. He worked as a law clerk at Abraham, Lerner & Arnold, LLP in 2007 while still a student. In 2008 he served as a legal intern in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. Those early roles put him on the prosecution-defense spectrum and offered a close look at courtroom procedure.
He held several entry-level legal positions after graduation. In 2010 he was a legal fellow with the New York State Unified Court System. That same year he was an associate at the Law Offices of Ilona Finkelshteyn and Emilia Rutigiliano. In 2011 he became a managing associate at the Law Offices of Yu & Associates. Five years later he opened his own practice. In 2016 he founded the Law Offices of Robert Tsigler, PLLC and has led that firm since.
Tsigler is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and appears in federal courts across the region. His jurisdiction list includes the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, as well as the 2nd and 6th Circuit courts of appeals. That range allows him to handle matters at both trial and appellate levels.
He is active in professional groups that reflect his practice areas. He holds memberships in the New York Criminal Bar Association and the National College of DUI Defense, the latter since 2016. He also belongs to the New York County Lawyers Association — including its Criminal Justice Committee — the Brooklyn Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, with involvement dating back to the early 2010s.
Colleagues describe him as steady in court and prepared at hearings. He combines courtroom experience from the public sector and private practice. He maintains a local practice through the Law Offices of Robert Tsigler, PLLC. His current practice focuses on criminal defense, DUI matters and related federal and state proceedings.
