About Robert Pfarr
Robert Pfarr Gates is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1970. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Gates is a partner at Erskine & Tulley, a law firm located in San Francisco, California. He has been practicing law for over five decades, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Gates earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Occidental College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He graduated from Occidental College in 1966 and from the University of Michigan Law School in 1969.
Mr. Gates concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate law and business law. He represents clients in matters involving real estate transactions, contract review, preparation and negotiation, business organization (including corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies), and litigation in real estate, contract, and business matters. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gates has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Erskine & Tulley, he was a partner at Hancock Rothert & Bunshoft, LLP.
Mr. Gates is an active member of the California State Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law. He is also a licensed real estate broker and has taught seminars for those in the real estate business. Mr. Gates is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area effectively.
