About Robert P.

Robert P. Vining built his legal foundation at the University of Mississippi. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1989 and followed that with an MBA in 1992. He returned to the same university for law school and received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1996.

After law school, Vining entered private practice and went on to join Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea & BenMaier. He has spent the bulk of his career at that firm. His work has taken him into state and federal courtrooms across several jurisdictions. He is admitted in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana, and he holds admissions to multiple U.S. district courts, including the Southern District of Texas, the Southern District of Mississippi, and the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Colleagues describe Vining as methodical in his courtroom preparation and deliberate in managing complex procedural matters. He has handled civil litigation that ranges from commercial disputes to regulatory and contract matters. His practice routinely involves filings and appearances in state trial courts and federal district courts. He is comfortable handling pretrial motions, discovery disputes and bench and jury trials when cases move to trial.

Vining’s educational background in business and law informs the way he frames client issues. The combination of a B.B.A., an M.B.A. and a J.D. provides a familiar base for cases that intersect commercial concerns and litigation strategy. He often evaluates disputes through both legal and business lenses, weighing potential outcomes and their implications for clients’ operations and finances.

Within the firm, Vining works alongside attorneys who manage litigation across multiple practice areas. He contributes to case strategy, draft pleadings, and prepares witnesses for testimony. He also coordinates with local counsel when matters require jurisdictional experience beyond the firm’s primary office locations. His practice has involved regular interaction with federal courts in the Fifth Circuit and with state courts in the region.

Vining continues to practice at Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea & BenMaier. His current work centers on federal and state litigation across Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.
