About Robert
Robert May completed a B.S. in Finance at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2001. He moved quickly into law, earning his J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2002. The combination of finance and law shaped an early interest in complex damages and litigation strategy.
He began building courtroom experience in the mid-2000s. By 2007 he was serving as Lead Litigation Lawyer at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, where he handled trial preparation, discovery and motion practice. The role put him on the front lines of plaintiff-side litigation and gave him hands-on exposure to jury trials, settlement negotiations and the procedural demands of major cases.
In 2011 he opened The May Firm. He set up the practice to represent individuals injured through accidents and negligence. The firm carries his name and reflects the litigation experience he developed earlier in his career. Over time he has handled a range of civil matters that require intensive factual investigation and courtroom readiness.
Memberships in local and state organizations have been a steady part of his professional life. He has been a member of the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura bar associations since 2010. He joined Consumer Lawyers of California in 2007 and remains active there. He also holds memberships in the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce and North County Young Professionals beginning in 2011. For a brief period in 2012 he was listed with the Better Business Bureau.
Colleagues describe his work as concentrated on litigation tasks that shape case outcomes: depositions, expert retention, written discovery and dispositive motions. He draws on his finance background when assessing economic losses and structuring damages calculations. The law school education at California Western provided the doctrinal foundation, while years in practice supplied trial temper and procedural know-how.
Today Robert May practices under the name The May Firm in California. He handles personal injury and related civil litigation, representing plaintiffs in cases that often require detailed factual development and courtroom advocacy.
