About Robert
Robert Keating built his legal foundation at two universities before moving into criminal defense work in Texas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education, Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale and earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University. He is admitted to practice in Texas and has worked across both public and private roles since his early internships.
Keating’s first hands-on experience in court came while he was still a student. In 2012 he served as a legal intern at the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office. That exposure to client advocacy at the trial level was followed by a 2014 internship at the Dallas County District Lawyer s Office, where he observed prosecution work and courtroom procedure.
After law school, Keating moved into private practice. In 2015 he joined Mederos, PLLC as a lawyer. Two years later he held lawyer positions with the Beal Law Office and Saputo Law Office, the latter listing him as defense counsel. In 2019 he was with Dunham & Jones, Lawyers at Law, P.C., and by 2020 he was listed as defense counsel at the Law Offices of Robert Keating, PLLC. Those roles gave him steady exposure to contested hearings and trial preparation across a range of criminal matters.
Keating maintains memberships in professional groups that focus on criminal defense work. He is a current member of the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Dallas County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He also belongs to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the DUI Defense Lawyers Association. These memberships reflect a continuing engagement with peers and local practice issues.
Over the course of a decade he has worked on both sides of the courtroom aisle, first observing prosecution and public defense operations and later representing individuals in private practice. His background includes repeated roles as defense counsel and positions titled simply lawyer, tracking a steady progression into defense work. He practices in Texas courts and appears in matters that range from routine hearings to contested proceedings.
