About Robert K.
Robert K. Savage built a dual foundation in business and law at the University of Florida. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1987, then completed both an MBA and a J.D. in 1993. Those credentials shape the way he approaches client work and classroom instruction. He moves comfortably between commercial matters and courtroom procedure.
His early career mixed regulatory work and corporate roles. Fresh out of college he worked as an examiner for NASD in 1987. By 1993 he was vice president at United Resources Group. Four years later he helped launch GA Financial and served as general counsel and co-founder. In 2002 he became owner of MercuryServe, Inc., a business venture that added operational and management experience to his legal background.
Savage is authorized to practice in Michigan and Florida, and he is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Over the years he has moved between private practice, corporate counsel assignments, and academic appointments. That mix has broadened the kinds of problems he can handle.
He has also served in traditional law firm roles. In 2008 he was of counsel at Bricklemyer. He later turned to legal education. In 2010 he was a visiting clinical assistant professor at Florida International University College of Law. In 2013 he joined Western Michigan University Cooley Law School as an associate professor and clinic director on the Tampa Bay campus. Those positions involved supervising law students in clinics and handling client matters in a teaching environment.
Alongside teaching and firm work, Savage has invested in alternative dispute resolution credentials. He is a Florida Residential Foreclosure Mediator through the USF Conflict Resolution Collaborative and a Certified Circuit Civil Mediator accredited by the Florida Supreme Court. He also holds membership in the Barney Masterson Inns of Court, a group that brings judges and lawyers together to discuss professional standards and practice.
He is a founding lawyer at Savage Villoch Law, PLLC where he continues to practice. His background in corporate counsel roles and business ownership informs his approach to client counseling. He handles civil litigation, foreclosure mediation, dispute resolution, and business-related legal matters.
He currently practices at Savage Villoch Law, PLLC and focuses his work on civil litigation, foreclosure mediation, and dispute resolution.
