About Robert G.
Robert G. Stiefvater earned his law degree from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2003 after completing a bachelor’s degree in criminology and sociology at The Ohio State University in 1999. His time in law school included practical exposure to courtroom procedure and case preparation, and his undergraduate studies gave him an early grounding in the social context of law.
He began working in the legal field while still in school. In 2001 he served as a law clerk at the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. That role put him inside the courthouse, assisting prosecutors and observing the day-to-day mechanics of trial work. After earning his degree he joined Cleary & Associates as an associate lawyer in 2003, where he handled a range of matters for the firm’s clients.
In 2009 he formed Stiefvater Law, LLC and has operated the firm since then. Over time the practice developed a steady client base. He has appeared in both state and federal courts, including matters that reached the Sixth Circuit. His practice reflects the multi-jurisdictional credentials he maintains; he is licensed in Ohio and Florida and holds admission to practice before the Sixth Circuit.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases. He favors careful case-building, where documents and procedure are as important as courtroom presentation. He treats depositions and hearings as opportunities to refine the record. That approach has shaped the way the firm handles filings and negotiations.
Outside the courtroom his background in criminology and sociology informs how he evaluates fact patterns and client needs. He combines that perspective with practical courtroom experience gained over two decades in practice. He mentors younger attorneys at the firm and oversees case strategy, though he continues to take on matters personally.
Today he runs Stiefvater Law, LLC and manages the firm’s caseload and operations. His licenses in Ohio, Florida and before the Sixth Circuit allow him to serve clients across state lines and in federal appeals. He continues to handle litigation and appellate matters through his firm.
