About Robert Fredrick
Robert Fredrick Goings began his path toward the law at Wofford College, where he earned a B.A. in Government in 2003. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2006. Those classroom years shaped an interest in courtroom work and appellate practice.
Early in his career, Goings gained litigation experience at Collins and Lacy, listed in records from 2004. That period exposed him to trial preparation and courtroom procedure. He later struck out on his own and founded Goings Law Office, LLC in 2011. The firm became the primary base for his trial practice and appellate work.
Goings holds admission to practice in South Carolina and regularly appears in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and has credentials to file matters before the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials reflect a practice that spans both state and federal forums.
Memberships in professional organizations have been a steady part of his professional life. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Richland County Bar Association. On a national level he belongs to the American Bar Association and the South Carolina Association of Justice. His peers have recognized his trial work through membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is also a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers. Outside legal circles he takes part in the Columbia Rotary Club.
Colleagues describe his work as concentrated on litigation and trial-level advocacy, combined with appellate filings when cases move beyond the trial court. He handles case preparation, motion practice, and courtroom presentation. His practice history shows recurring involvement in contested hearings and appeals in federal and state systems.
Professional life for Goings has involved managing a small firm and serving clients directly through each stage of a dispute. That management role requires balancing case work with overseeing office operations and client communication. The combination of trial practice and firm leadership marks his daily work.
As of 2026 he continues to practice at Goings Law Office, LLC, concentrating on civil litigation, trial representation, and appellate matters in state and federal courts.
