About Robert
Robert Chang is an attorney admitted to practice in California and before the Ninth Circuit. He built his legal foundation in Southern California, earning a B.A. in political science from the University of California, San Diego in 2000 and a J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2006. Those years framed an interest in litigation and court procedure that would shape his early career.
After law school Chang entered private practice and began working on bankruptcy matters. He joined Macey Bankruptcy as an associate in 2012, where he handled case filings, creditor communications and court appearances under the supervision of more senior counsel. The role exposed him to the technical requirements of bankruptcy practice and the realities of client work in financially stressed situations.
In 2013 he moved to Kostopoulos Law Group as a managing lawyer. The position expanded his portfolio. He took on management tasks, coordinated case teams and oversaw day-to-day office operations while continuing to accept client matters. A year later he established his own office.
Since 2014 Chang has operated the Law Office of Robert Chang as principal. The firm reflects a compact practice built from his earlier roles. He handles matters that follow from bankruptcy practice and related civil litigation. His work includes filings in state and federal court and appearances in proceedings that require familiarity with both procedural and substantive issues.
Courtroom work and filings in the Ninth Circuit are part of his practice record. He is a member of the Alameda County Bar Association, a relationship he has maintained since 2011. That membership places him in a professional network of local practitioners and offers access to continuing legal education and local bar activities.
Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical in preparing cases and pragmatic in addressing client objectives. He balances courtroom advocacy with the administrative demands of running a small firm. The business side of practice — calendaring, pleadings, client intake and case management — sits alongside his courtroom responsibilities.
He currently practices through the Law Office of Robert Chang, representing clients in matters that arise from his bankruptcy and litigation work.
