About Robert C.
Robert C. Skramstad graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1993 and has spent his career practicing law in multiple states. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and Connecticut. He has worked in private practice and provided consulting services to a range of clients, balancing courtroom work and advisory assignments over the years.
Early in his career Skramstad put his Michigan law degree to use in matters that required close attention to procedure and client objectives. He moved between litigation dockets and transactional files as needs dictated. That range of early work shaped a practical approach to problem solving. He learned to prioritize clear client communication and careful legal analysis over theatrical courtroom gestures.
Over time Skramstad broadened the scope of his practice to include work across state lines. Maintaining admissions in both Michigan and Connecticut has allowed him to accept matters in different forums. He has experience handling filings, appearances and client counseling in each jurisdiction’s courts and administrative bodies. Colleagues say he is steady under pressure and focused on the facts of a case rather than on rhetoric.
Skramstad later transitioned to a practice model that combines legal representation with advisory services. At that stage he began providing consulting that overlapped with legal work. The consulting work often complements legal matters, particularly when clients seek to prevent disputes or to resolve them without protracted litigation. He also assists clients who need an outside perspective on contracts, compliance questions and procedural strategy.
Today he practices through ABV Legal and Consulting LLC. There he serves clients in both Michigan and Connecticut. His current work includes representation in court where warranted and advisory engagements that range from discrete projects to ongoing counsel arrangements. He manages a caseload that blends contested matters and negotiated resolutions.
Outside the courtroom he continues to follow developments in state and federal law relevant to his clients. He combines casework and consulting to match the specific needs of the people and organizations he represents. His current practice concentrates on providing legal services and consulting to clients in Michigan and Connecticut.
