Robert Alan Goodman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1997. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Goodman earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1996. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California at Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1993. During his time at UC Berkeley, he developed a strong foundation in political science, which has informed his approach to legal practice.
Mr. Goodman concentrates his practice in the area of family law, representing clients in matters such as divorce, child custody, spousal support, visitation rights, domestic violence, marital property distribution, mediation, adoption law, and restraining orders. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Goodman has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Oakland for five years.
Mr. Goodman is an active member of the Alameda County Bar Association and the Contra Costa County Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Bar Association's Family Law Section and the State Bar of California's Family Law Section. He is also a certified Family Law Specialist in Alameda County. Mr. Goodman is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the East Bay effectively.
