About Robert A.
Robert A. Stok built his legal foundation over two distinct academic chapters. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at the City University of New York 6 Queens College in 1971. Eighteen years later he earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1989. Those credentials set the stage for a career centered on commercial and insolvency matters.
After law school he entered practice in Florida and later undertook admissions to several federal courts. His professional standing includes authorization to appear before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle, Northern and Southern Districts of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He also holds admission to practice in the state of Florida.
In 2011 he founded Stok Kon + Braverman and serves as its managing shareholder. The firm carries the imprint of his practical experience in commercial disputes and bankruptcy practice. As managing shareholder he oversees casework and firm operations, and remains active in courtroom and transactional matters.
Memberships in industry organizations have been a steady part of his professional life. He maintains current memberships in INSOL (International), the Commercial Law League of America, the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida, and the New York Mercantile Exchange. Those affiliations reflect an engagement with both the legal and commercial communities that intersect with insolvency, secured lending and commodity markets.
His work spans bankruptcy, insolvency and commercial litigation. He appears in federal forums on matters that often involve creditors, trustees, and corporate debtors. He also handles related litigation and transactional issues tied to secured transactions and creditor protections. The combination of federal admissions and professional memberships gives him access to courts and networks used in complex commercial and restructuring matters.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in courtroom preparation and pragmatic in negotiations. He has led teams on contested matters and advising on procedural and substantive actions in insolvency cases. He has kept pace with changes in bankruptcy procedure and commercial law through ongoing participation in professional associations and industry meetings.
He practices at Stok Kon + Braverman, where his current work concentrates on bankruptcy, insolvency and commercial litigation matters.
