About Richard
Richard Winblad built a steady legal career out of Oklahoma classrooms and courtrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, in 1984 and a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1992. Those credentials set the stage for work that has ranged from private practice to advising veterans on benefits.
Fresh from law school, Winblad joined Stephen Bruce and Associates in 1992. He spent years handling matters that required practical courtroom experience and careful client counseling. In 2013 he opened Winblad Law PLLC. The firm carries his name and reflects a move toward running a practice shaped by his own priorities and the needs of local clients.
Winblad is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and has standing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has secured accreditation from the Department of Veterans Affairs to represent veterans in claims. Memberships run long and varied: he has been active in the Oklahoma Bar Association since 1992 and has belonged to the Oklahoma County Bar Association since 2019. He has served as president of the Oklahoma City Commercial Lawyers Association and has been involved with the National Care Providers Council since 2016. For a time he participated in Lawyers with Purpose from 2015 to 2019.
Those professional ties reflect the mix of matters he handles. Commercial disputes, business-related counseling and veterans’ claims appear frequently on his docket. He approaches cases with an eye toward procedure and outcome. He prepares for hearings and filings, and he spends time translating complex rules into clear options for clients.
Colleagues describe him as steady under pressure and inclined to give direct answers rather than legalese. Clients have encountered a lawyer who emphasizes practical steps and timelines. He runs a small firm that aims to be responsive; he manages matters himself and brings in outside resources when specialized work is required.
Over three decades in practice have given him a range of courtroom and office experience. He continues to participate in local bar groups and to maintain his VA accreditation. He currently concentrates his practice on veterans’ benefits, commercial law and general civil litigation.
