About Richard
Richard Suzuki earned his law degree from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 2000, after completing an undergraduate degree at the same university in 1997. Those years in Tucson anchored his early legal training. Classroom work was followed quickly by hands-on experience in local courts and county offices that shaped his approach to litigation.
He began his career as a judicial law clerk in 2000, serving under Hon. Howard Fell and Edgar Acuna at the Pima County Superior Court. That role placed him inside courtroom procedure and opinion drafting at the start of his professional life. Earlier summer and pre‑bar positions included law clerk and insurance defense law clerk work in 1998, which introduced him to client file management and civil defense practice.
Suzuki moved into public prosecution soon after. In 2001 he joined the Office of the Maricopa County Lawyers Office as a state prosecutor. The courtroom work there involved trial preparation, motion practice and running cases through local criminal dockets. In 2005 he served as a federal prosecutor at the United States Lawyer Office, where federal rules and broader jurisdictional issues became central to his caseload.
In 2007 he established Suzuki Law Offices, L.L.C., a private practice that reflects his years in both prosecution and defense roles. Over time he has appeared in state and federal courts across multiple districts. His admissions include the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court of Colorado and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
Professional associations have continued to play a role in his career. He maintains memberships in the State Bar of Arizona, the Maricopa County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of bar groups that reflect his community ties, including the Arizona Hispanic Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association and Los Abogados. His affiliations extend to trial and criminal defense circles through the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe his courtroom work as experienced and procedural. He brings experience from both sides of the aisle—prosecutor and defense counsel—into client representation. That background informs how he approaches evidence, witness preparation and legal strategy in hearings and trials.
He currently operates Suzuki Law Offices, L.L.C., where his practice includes criminal defense, civil litigation and related matters in state and federal courts.
