About Richard M.
Richard M. Benrubi completed his legal education at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, earning a J.D. in 1988 after receiving a B.S. in Business Administration in 1985 from the same institution. Those years in Gainesville set the stage for a career spent largely in the courtroom. He moved from student to practitioner quickly after finishing law school.
He gained admission to the Florida bar in 1989 and holds admission in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. That combination of state and federal credentials has allowed him to handle matters in both systems when cases require it. He is also Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar, a certification that signals recognized competence in handling civil disputes at trial.
Benrubi’s professional path led him to partnership at Liggio Benrubi, where he has served as a partner. The role places him among the firm’s front-line trial attorneys. He has been a member of the Florida State Bar since 1989 and maintains memberships in several professional organizations that reflect a practice oriented toward litigation. His group affiliations include the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the Palm Beach County Trial Lawyers Association, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and the South Palm Beach County Bar Association.
Colleagues describe him as a courtroom lawyer who spends his time preparing cases for trial. He handles civil litigation matters and has tried cases in both state and federal forums. That trial experience is the practical underpinning of his Board Certification. He combines courtroom work with motion practice and client counseling, moving cases through the procedural stages toward resolution or verdict.
Outside the courtroom, Benrubi’s involvement in local and national bar groups dates back decades. His memberships have been continuous in many organizations since the late 1990s and early 2000s. Those connections keep him engaged with evolving trial techniques and changes in civil procedure and evidence law.
Today he serves as a partner at Liggio Benrubi, admitted in Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and he practices as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer handling civil litigation matters in state and federal court.
