About Richard B
Richard B Comiter built a foundation in business and tax long before he began practicing law. He earned a BSBA from the University of Florida in 1976, an MSM in Tax Accounting from Florida International University in 1978, a J.D. from the University of Florida in 1980 and an LL.M. in Tax Law from the University of Florida in 1981. Those credentials reflect a steady concentration on tax and business matters early in his academic career.
He is admitted to practice in Florida and holds both legal and accounting credentials. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a Tax Lawyer. Those professional qualifications inform the way he approaches client problems, blending tax technicalities with legal strategy.
Over the years he has maintained an active presence in professional organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He serves on the board of the Florida Association of Lawyer-Certified Public Accountants and acts as a regional vice-president for that organization. He also chairs the Tax Section of the Florida Bar Association and participates in the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Internationally, he is involved in the International Network of Boutique Law Offices.
His career has combined practice, organizational leadership and a dual perspective as lawyer and accountant. Clients and colleagues describe his work as grounded in technical tax rules and practical business judgment. He has focused on matters where federal and state tax law intersect with estate planning, trust administration and business succession issues.
He practices at Comiter, Singer, Baseman & Braun LLP. At the firm he handles a range of tax and estate matters, counseling individuals, families and closely held businesses on tax planning, trust design, probate matters and related transactional work. His dual training allows him to review financial and tax consequences alongside legal documents.
Outside of client work he remains active in peer groups that shape tax and estate practice in Florida. He contributes to the professional conversation through membership and leadership roles rather than through public-facing campaigns. He continues to practice in Florida, concentrating on tax, estate planning and related business matters.
