About Rhonda

Rhonda Young earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2008. She entered the legal profession after graduation and has since been active in the North Carolina legal community. Her education at a state law school informs a practice grounded in local procedure and the dynamics of state courts.

Early in her career Young focused on building practical skills at the bench and in client work. She moved between roles that required negotiating settlements, drafting pleadings and advising clients on procedural matters. Over time she added committee service and bar work to her professional routine, seeking out tasks that affect how the local bar handles disputes and access within the profession.

Since 2016 Young has served on the Wake County Bar Association Fee Dispute Committee. That committee receives and reviews complaints about attorney fees and works to resolve those matters through review panels and settlement efforts. Her work there has involved intake, case review and participation in panel meetings that aim to resolve fee disagreements without resorting immediately to formal discipline.

Beginning in 2017 she joined the NC Advocates for Justice Diversity Task Force Committee. That group develops programs and recommendations intended to broaden participation in the bar and to identify barriers that affect underrepresented lawyers. Her committee role has included planning outreach events and contributing to discussions about recruitment and retention within the profession.

Colleagues describe Young as methodical in committee settings. She tends to bring attention to procedural detail and to the mechanics of dispute resolution. That perspective is useful both when evaluating fee disputes and when crafting practical steps to improve inclusion in legal associations.

Outside committee rooms she continues to practice law in North Carolina. She regularly appears in local matters, handles client counseling, and works on agreements and negotiations that resolve disputes before trial. Her practice balances litigation-related tasks with alternative dispute resolution work, and she remains involved in bar governance through ongoing committee assignments.

Young’s current practice concentrates on client representation in state courts, dispute resolution and participating in bar processes that address fee issues and diversity initiatives.
