About Reid
Reid Elkus earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1998 and later completed an LL.M. at Washington College of Law. During his legal studies he spent time in a federal externship in Washington, D.C., an early exposure to federal court procedures and the workings of trial-level federal practice. His academic path combined traditional classroom training with practical legal placement.
After law school and further study, Elkus moved into private practice. In 2005 he was a founding lawyer of Elkus Sisson & Rosenstein, PC. That step marked a shift from early training into firm leadership and ongoing client representation. Over the years he has maintained memberships in professional organizations that reflect a continuing engagement with the profession.
He is admitted to practice in Colorado and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, enabling him to handle matters at both the state and appellate federal levels. The federal externship he completed while in law school provided practical experience with federal procedures, which complements his admitted practice in the Tenth Circuit. His bar and appellate admissions shape the range of matters he can bring on for clients.
Elkus maintains current memberships in the Colorado Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. Those affiliations offer access to continuing education, peer networks, and specialized resources. Membership in the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar signals a professional interest in criminal defense issues, and the broader bar associations connect him to developments across civil and federal practice areas.
Colleagues and clients have come to expect a lawyer who balances courtroom and appellate work, administrative demands, and the day-to-day needs of a private practice. Elkus’s career reflects steady advancement from law student extern to founding partner. He continues to participate in bar activities and professional development.
He currently practices at Elkus Sisson & Rosenstein, PC, representing clients in Colorado and in proceedings before the Tenth Circuit.
