About Rebecca

Rebecca Montoya built her legal foundation at the University of New Mexico, where she earned a B.A. in criminology and psychology. She continued her studies at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and graduated with a J.D. Those years set the groundwork for a practice rooted in criminal law.

Her early legal work began in the public defender's office. In 2018 she served as a law clerk and limited practice student at the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office. She returned to that office as a lawyer in 2020, handling a range of misdemeanor and felony matters on behalf of indigent clients. The public defender role gave her front-line exposure to courtroom procedure, client interviewing and trial preparation.

In 2021 she joined Matthew Lopez Law, PLLC as a lawyer. That position broadened her experience in criminal defense and related practice areas. She later established Allied DUI & Criminal Defense and serves as its owner and lawyer. Her move to private practice allowed her to manage cases from intake through resolution and to design a practice model that emphasizes accessibility for clients.

Montoya is licensed in Arizona and maintains active membership in the Arizona State Bar. She is also a member of Arizona Lawyers for Criminal Justice and the National College for DUI Defense. These affiliations keep her connected to peer education and developments in state and national criminal law, especially matters that affect driving under the influence prosecutions and sentencing strategies.

Colleagues and former supervisors describe her work as steady and procedural. She has handled arraignments, preliminary hearings and bench and jury trials. Her experience spans misdemeanor possession and driving offenses to more serious felony charges. She has worked directly with investigators, prepared motions, and argued evidence and procedural issues in courtrooms across Maricopa County.

Montoya runs a virtual and remote office under the Allied DUI & Criminal Defense name. The setup reflects a practice geared toward remote consultations and document handling, while still providing in-person representation when matters require court appearances. She lives and practices in Arizona and continues to accept criminal defense and DUI matters through her virtual office. She currently practices criminal defense and DUI defense through a virtual/remote office at Allied DUI & Criminal Defense.
