About Thomas P.
Thomas P. Alongi built a legal path that crosses state lines and courtroom roles. He studied history and computational mathematics at DePauw University, earning his B.A. in 1986. He then took up law at the University of Kansas School of Law and completed his J.D. in 1989.
His early career moved quickly into public service. In 1990 he served as an assistant county lawyer in both Geary and Finney counties. He then entered federal work at the Department of Justice in 2000 as an assistant U.S. lawyer. Soon after, he returned to state-level defense work as Deputy Public Defender III for Navajo County in 2001 and served as assistant city prosecutor in Tucson in 2002. Those postings gave him courtroom experience on both sides of criminal matters.
Across the next decade Alongi shifted between public interest and private practice. By 2004 he was an associate at Davis | Miles, PLLC. In 2007 he worked as a senior staff lawyer for Community Legal Services. He took on a judicial role in 2008 as a judge pro tempore for the Maricopa County Superior Court. That year on the bench was followed in 2009 by a stint teaching law as an adjunct professor at Phoenix School of Law.
He later formed partnerships and firms of his own. In 2014 he was a partner at Alongi & Donovan Law, PLLC. In 2016 he became owner and managing partner at ALONGI LAW FIRM, PLLC. He currently lists an office as Alongi Law Office, PLLC. Over the years he has maintained bar ties across three jurisdictions: Arizona, Kansas and Minnesota. He has been a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association since 2014.
The pattern across these roles is varied courtroom work and a mix of advocacy, defense and prosecutorial experience. He has handled matters at county and federal levels and spent time inside public service, nonprofit legal work and private practice. He also taught law students, bringing practical courtroom perspective into the classroom.
Colleagues and clients have seen a practitioner who has repeatedly moved between roles that demand different skills—trial work, counseling, office management and teaching. His career notes show a lawyer comfortable in court and in leadership roles. He now practices from his Arizona office and maintains active licensure in Minnesota, Kansas and Arizona. His current practice focuses on litigation and trial representation.
