About Rebecca J

Rebecca J Sargent built her path to law from a background in business. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University — Dickinson School of Law in 1986. She then completed her legal training at the University of Maine School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1989. Those credentials set the stage for a long career practicing in New England.

She is admitted to practice in both Maine and New Hampshire. After law school she entered private practice and has spent decades representing clients in matters that touch on trust, estate and financial questions. Over time she combined legal work with credentialing that speaks to the technical side of fiduciary matters. She holds the Certified Trust & Financial Advisor designation, which aligns with the kinds of issues her clientele often bring to her.

Her professional involvement extends beyond her casework. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Hancock County Bar. Those memberships place her within national and local professional networks, where she exchanges ideas and stays current on practice developments. She has maintained active ties to the bar community throughout her career.

Sargent’s practice has long included advising personal representatives, trustees and families on administration and planning matters. Her education in business and law informs the way she approaches financial documentation, trust administration and related disputes. She has handled matters that require both legal analysis and attention to the practical mechanics of asset management and distribution.

She works out of Jones, Kuriloff & Sargent, LLC. At the firm she collaborates with colleagues on matters that span probate administration, trust accounting and other fiduciary responsibilities. Her work frequently requires coordinating with accountants, financial institutions and other advisors to resolve issues that arise during estate and trust administrations.

Colleagues describe her as steady and methodical in the courtroom and at the negotiating table. She favors clear explanations when advising clients. She takes time to map options and to lay out procedural steps in ways clients can understand.

Sargent maintains an active practice in Maine and New Hampshire that centers on trust, estate and financial-advisory matters. She currently practices at Jones, Kuriloff & Sargent, LLC and continues to represent clients in fiduciary and estate-related work.
