About Jeffrey W
Jeffrey W Jones built a career that bridges public service and long-running private practice. He began his academic path at Princeton University, earning an A.B. in psychology in 1967. He later pursued legal studies at the University of Miami School of Law in 1974 and earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 1977.
His first professional post came immediately after law school. In 1977 he served as Deputy Lawyer General for the New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety. That government position put him in contact with regulatory work and litigation on behalf of the state. It also marked the start of a career that alternated between public roles and private partnerships.
By 1980 he had entered private practice as a partner at Sprigman & Jones in Woodbury, New Jersey. He moved through a series of partnerships in the early 1980s, joining Jones, Ackerman O Malley & Lundquist in 1982 and becoming a partner at Hale & Hamlin in Ellsworth, Maine in 1985. He established his own firm in 2001, serving as president of Jeffrey W. Jones, P.A., in Ellsworth. In 2014 he took on a membership-manager role at Jones, Kuriloff & Sargent, LLC, the office where he continues to maintain his practice.
Jones holds admission to practice in New Jersey and Maine, and he is admitted before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. His professional affiliations reflect longstanding involvement in two specialty organizations. He has been a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys since 1991, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a status he has held since 1990. Those memberships indicate a consistent alignment with elder law and trust and estate work.
Colleagues describe a steady, traditional career path: government service followed by a series of private partnerships and finally firm leadership. He has worked in both New Jersey and Maine environments, handling courtroom matters and transactional work over several decades. He remains active in bar-related groups and professional societies. He currently practices at Jones, Kuriloff & Sargent, LLC, where he concentrates on elder law and trust and estate matters.
