Raised in Lakeland, Florida, Mr. Haas earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern College in 1968.
He then attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he was an active member of the award-winning Moot Court Team. His legal acumen was recognized during his time in law school, as he received the William C. Gaither Recognition for Best Oral Argument. Additionally, he earned seven book awards for achieving the highest grades in various courses, showcasing his academic excellence. Before entering private practice, Mr. Haas served as an Army Infantry Officer and later transitioned to an Army aviator role, achieving the rank of Captain. After completing law school, he joined the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the U.S. Army, where he gained valuable legal experience in military law.
His early legal career included practicing in Daytona Beach alongside Clifford B. Gosney and the Honorable R — Michael Hutchinson. The firm later expanded to Orlando and became known as Gosney, Haas, Cameron, and Parsons. In the following years, Mr. Haas founded Haas, Boehm & Brown, P.A., a statewide insurance defense firm with offices across Florida. This firm specialized in civil cases, including bad faith claims and product liability cases, representing clients like Lowe's Companies. His experience includes significant litigation involving the defense of bad faith claims and personal injury cases. Mr.
Haas has represented major insurance companies such as State Farm and GEICO, further solidifying his reputation in the field. In addition to his work in insurance defense, Mr. Haas's practice encompasses business litigation — He handles cases related to business contracts, dissolution, finance, formation, and mergers and acquisitions.
