About Rangeley B.

Rangeley B. Chewning earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in 1998 and completed his law degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2001. He entered the legal profession after law school and has maintained an active presence in the state's legal community since the early 2000s.

Chewning has practiced at the Jebaily Law Office. His work has involved appearances in both state and federal trial courts. He holds admission to the Supreme Court of South Carolina and to the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, which allows him to represent clients in matters brought in those forums.

Over the years Chewning has remained engaged with bar organizations. He has been a member of the South Carolina Bar Association since 2002 and joined the South Carolina Association for Justice in 2005. He also maintains membership in the Florence County Bar Association. Those memberships place him among lawyers who regularly participate in continuing legal education and local bar activities.

Colleagues describe his practice as courtroom-oriented, handling litigation that requires state and federal filings and appearances. He works on procedural matters, case preparation, and courtroom advocacy. His experience in federal court reflects a familiarity with the procedural distinctions that separate federal litigation from state-court practice, including different rules of civil procedure and evidentiary practice.

Outside the courtroom, Chewning's career has followed the steady administration of client matters through investigation, pleading, and trial preparation. He applies trial experience when assessing settlements and when preparing cases for hearing. He has built his practice around the routines of litigation and the demands of trial calendars, often coordinating discovery and depositions as part of case development.

As a lawyer who began practice after receiving his J.D. in 2001 and who has maintained bar memberships for more than two decades, Chewning remains an active participant in the South Carolina legal community. As of 2026 he practices at the Jebaily Law Office, handling litigation in state and federal courts.
