About Randi R.

Randi R. Nelson earned her law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2010 after completing a bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007. The combination of legal training and a communications background shapes the way she approaches casework. She pays close attention to how facts are presented and how courtroom narratives are constructed.

After law school Nelson established her practice in Connecticut. Over the years she has built a practice that intersects private representation and court-appointed responsibilities. Her name appears on court rosters for special assignments. Those roles have become a steady part of her professional life.

Nelson serves as a Special Master for Family Matters in two judicial districts. She holds that appointment in the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk at Stamford and in the Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport. In those capacities she assists judges by handling certain family law tasks assigned by the courts. The assignments require familiarity with procedural rules and the ability to prepare clear recommendations for the bench.

She is a member of several professional organizations. She holds current memberships in the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association. Locally, she belongs to the Fairfield County Bar Association and the Westport/Weston Bar Association. These memberships keep her connected to colleagues and to developments in Connecticut law. They also provide venues for continuing education and professional dialogue.

Colleagues describe Nelson as methodical in court filings and precise in hearings. She favors careful preparation and measured argument. Her background in journalism informs that approach; she structures information so judges and opposing counsel can follow complex timelines and key facts. That clarity is useful in family law matters where records and testimony often overlap.

Nelson practices in Connecticut and carries out a mix of private work and court-appointed duties. She continues to accept family law matters and special master assignments in the Stamford and Bridgeport judicial districts. Her current practice centers on family law and court-appointed family matters.
