About Rachna

Rachna Lien began her legal education after completing undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where she studied Social Thought & Analysis with a concentration in sociology and earned her B.A. in 2005. She went on to Case Western Reserve University School of Law and received her J.D. in 2008. Those formative years set the stage for a career that moves between advocacy, court work and dispute resolution.

Early in her post-law school career Lien immersed herself in community-centered work. In 2012 she founded the Jane Doe Advocacy Center and served as its executive director. In that role she managed program development and day-to-day operations while working directly on cases and community outreach. The center gave her sustained exposure to client advocacy and nonprofit administration.

In 2018 Lien opened The Lien Law Office, LLC and took on the role of owner. She practices in Missouri, where she holds certification as a Guardian ad Litem through The Missouri Bar. Her training also includes a Basic Mediation certificate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Those credentials reflect a mix of courtroom appointment work and alternative dispute resolution training.

Lien’s practice profile blends direct client representation and roles that place her in decision-making positions on behalf of vulnerable parties. As a certified guardian ad litem she has served in cases that require independent investigation and fact-finding for the court. Her mediation training has informed how she approaches settlement conversations and pretrial negotiations, often favoring solutions that reduce continued conflict for families.

Running a small office has meant handling both the legal work and the business side of a practice. Lien’s path from nonprofit founder to firm owner has given her experience in client intake, case management and the administrative work of keeping a practice afloat. Those day-to-day responsibilities sit alongside the substantive legal work and occasional courtroom appearances.

Colleagues and clients describe her approach as pragmatic and procedural rather than theatrical. She emphasizes careful preparation and steady advocacy. Her current practice concentrates on guardianship matters, family-related advocacy and mediation.
