About Rachel
Rachel Whitsitt built her legal foundation through study and steady courtroom work. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and political science from Kansas State University in 2007 and a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in 2010. Those years set the stage for a practice shaped by family law, collaborative processes and courtroom experience.
After law school she entered private practice and within a few years helped form a family firm. In 2011 she became a partner at Whitsitt & Whitsitt, LLC., where she handled divorce, custody and related matters. That period sharpened her day-to-day skills in negotiation, settlement drafting and case management. Colleagues from that time recall a steady approach to client problems and a willingness to try both mediation and litigation depending on what a case required.
In 2022 she moved to Joseph, Hollander & Craft, LLC as an associate. The change brought a different bench of colleagues and a mix of new casework. At Joseph, Hollander & Craft she continued to represent clients in family law matters while also working on cases that required appearances in federal court. Her admissions include the state bars of Kansas and Missouri and the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, which has allowed her to handle a wider set of procedural questions and filings.
Outside of billable hours she has been active in professional groups that reflect her practice areas. She is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and the Missouri Bar. She belongs to the Kansas Women’s Lawyer Association and to Collaborative Practice Kansas City. She is also part of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and has been involved with the Johnson County Family Law Inns of Court and the Johnson County Bar Association since the early 2010s. Those memberships have kept her connected to peers, current procedure and local judicial practices.
Her work blends courtroom work and alternative dispute resolution. She has handled contested hearings and full trials, and she also participates in collaborative practice and settlement conferences. Clients encounter a lawyer who moves between negotiation tables and court calendars as their cases require. She maintains her practice at Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC and continues to represent clients in family law and collaborative dispute resolution matters.
