About R. Todd

R. Todd Mosley earned his J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2002. He completed his legal training at a time when consumer bankruptcy issues were gaining national attention, and his career path has reflected that trend.

Mosley began practicing as an associate in 2005 at Kustoff & Strickland, PLLC. He worked on a range of matters there and handled courtroom appearances and client counseling. In 2008 he moved to Shapiro & Kirsch, LLP as an associate, where he expanded his experience in litigation and bankruptcy-related work. Those early years exposed him to both trial and appellate procedures and to the practical demands of representing individual clients in financially sensitive matters.

In 2009 Mosley opened his solo practice, operating under the name R. Todd Mosley. Lawyer at Law. He has continued to work as a solo practitioner since then, filing cases, negotiating with creditors, and representing clients in bankruptcy courts. His practice has involved routine and contested matters, and he appears in both state and federal forums where consumer insolvency is at issue.

Mosley is admitted to practice in Tennessee and North Carolina, and he also holds admissions before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 4th and 6th Circuits. He maintains active membership in the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers and in the North Carolina Bar Association. Those affiliations align with the type of work he does and provide ongoing access to continuing legal education and peer resources.

Colleagues describe Mosley as steady and pragmatic in court. He tends to take cases that require close attention to bankruptcy statutes and court rules. His approach is methodical: assess the client’s financial picture, determine eligible relief under the Bankruptcy Code, and move cases through the system in an orderly way. He also handles client interviews and prepares pleadings and confirmations that are common in consumer bankruptcy practice.

Over the years Mosley’s work as a solo practitioner has required balancing courtroom time with administrative duties that come with running a small practice. He files matters in both Tennessee and North Carolina courts and handles appeals when necessary. He continues to participate in professional groups that focus on consumer bankruptcy law and the professional standards that guide practitioners.

His current practice concentrates on consumer bankruptcy and related matters.
