About R. Scott

R. Scott Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Arkansas Tech University in 2007 and completed his J.D. at the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville in 2011. Those years framed his early interest in trial practice and state-level legal work. Law school also provided opportunities to test courtroom procedures and sharpen practical skills that would define his first years as a lawyer.

His legal career began while he was still in school. In 2009 he worked as a law clerk at Benson & Woods, PLC, handling research and assisting on pretrial matters. After earning his degree he joined Showalter & Associates, P.A. in 2011. The next year he launched The Law Offices of R. Scott Johnson, PLC, where he took on a broader range of client work and handled intake, filings and client counseling as a solo practitioner.

In 2014 he moved to Swindle Law Office, where he continued to develop courtroom experience and to manage more complex cases. Two years later he joined Martin Lawyers, P.A. as an attorney. That position has anchored his practice through the latter half of the 2010s and into the 2020s. Over time his roles have ranged from case preparation and motion practice to appearing for matters in both state and federal venues.

He is admitted to practice in Arkansas and is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas. He remains an active member of the Arkansas State Bar and has held membership in the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association since 2011. Those affiliations keep him connected to developments in litigation practice and to colleagues across the state.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and straightforward in client communications. He maintains a steady courtroom presence and emphasizes clear written work in pleadings and motions. Over the years he has handled matters at different stages — from initial intake through hearings — and has worked on both routine and more contested proceedings in Arkansas courts.

Outside of the courtroom he has managed the administrative side of practice at small and medium-sized firms, drawing on his earlier experience running a solo office. That background informs how he approaches client service and case management today. He currently practices at Martin Lawyers, P.A., where his work centers on representing clients in litigation in Arkansas state and federal courts.
