About R. Christine
R. Christine Brown has built a legal career that traces back to two California campuses. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1989 with a B.A. in Business Economics and Germanic Languages & Literature. She earned her J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in 1992.
Her first years in practice were in Sacramento-area firms. She joined Houk, Hicks & Graves as an associate in 1993. In 1995 she moved to Popeney, Lebetsamer & Grange as an associate, and later that year became a partner when the firm reorganized as Popeney, Lebetsamer & Brown. Those positions gave her courtroom and transactional exposure and a chance to build a client base across several civil matters.
In 2001 she opened her own practice, the Law Offices of R. Christine Brown, APC, and has operated that firm since. Her membership record is consistent and long-standing. She has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1992. She joined the South Bay Bar Association in 1995 and has maintained that membership. In 1997 she became a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). That same year she joined the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR) Lawyers Referral Panel.
Those professional affiliations reflect the types of issues she handles. Over the years Brown has worked on matters that commonly arise for older clients and their families, including probate, conservatorship, long-term care planning and related disputes. Her practice combines transactional work — drafting estate planning documents and advising on long-term care options — with litigation when it becomes necessary. Colleagues describe her as steady in court and exacting on document details; clients have sought her out for practical counsel on end-of-life planning and the legal implications of nursing home care.
She continues to practice in California and maintains her State Bar membership in active status. At her firm she handles both planning and contested matters for older adults and their families, drawing on more than two decades of experience in elder law and related areas of practice.
