About Piper
Piper Hanson built a practical foundation before entering law school. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from American University in 1996, studying communications, economics and government. She later completed her legal education at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2001.
Her path combined legal training and an interest in real estate. Early in her career she pursued credentials beyond the bar. She is a licensed broker through the California Bureau of Real Estate and serves as a notary public and certified signing agent for the State of California. Those certifications shaped the types of matters she encountered and the services she offers clients.
Hanson opened her own practice in 2014. Since then she has operated Piper Hanson Law, overseeing casework and client transactions. Running a small firm put her in direct contact with buyers, sellers, borrowers and business owners. The work demands attention to procedural detail and timely document handling, areas where her notary and signing-agent background proved useful.
Her professional memberships trace a blend of legal and real estate interests. She is an active member of the San Mateo County Bar Association and holds memberships in the National Notary Association. Hanson also participates in Realtor organizations, including the National Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors and the San Mateo County Association of Realtors. Locally, she is part of the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce. Those affiliations reflect the mixed legal and transactional emphasis of her practice.
Colleagues and clients describe her approach as pragmatic. She handles transactional matters alongside related legal concerns, navigating contracts, closings and compliance issues that arise in real estate and commercial contexts. Her background in communications and economics informs how she analyzes deals and explains options to clients.
Outside client work, Hanson maintains the administrative and managerial duties of a solo practice. That includes supervising document execution, maintaining licensing requirements and cultivating local referral networks. She balances intake, client counseling and the routine tasks that keep a small firm functioning.
As of 2026 she continues to lead Piper Hanson Law in California, providing legal and transactional services supported by her broker license and notary credentials. Her current practice concentrates on real estate and related transactional work.
