About Peter Wade
Peter Wade Kolp built his legal foundation in New York. He earned a B.S. in Politics and Economics from Ithaca College in 1990 and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1997. Those years set the stage for a career split between public service and private practice.
He began handling courtroom matters early in his career. In 2000 he joined the Kings County District Attorney’s office as a Senior Assistant District Lawyer. That role placed him in a busy trial environment and exposed him to the demands of courtroom litigation. In 2007 he moved to the New York State Attorney General’s office as an Assistant Lawyer General. There he worked on matters that expanded his exposure beyond local prosecutions to issues that touched state law and enforcement.
After nearly a decade in public-sector roles, Kolp shifted to private practice. In 2014 he joined Kagan Lubic Lepper as a litigation associate. That position sharpened his experience on the civil side of contentious matters and offered a different courtroom perspective. Two years later he launched his own firm. He founded Peter W. Kolp PC in 2016 and has led the practice since then.
Kolp is admitted to practice in New York. His professional path traces a steady progression from county courtroom work to state-level litigation and then into private litigation practice. That mix of experience informs how he approaches cases: an emphasis on courtroom readiness and on managing disputes through the litigation process.
Colleagues describe his approach as practical and direct. He has worked on both prosecutorial and civil litigation matters, and those roles have required client counseling, motion practice, and trial preparation. Over time he has taken responsibility for running a small firm, handling case management, and overseeing client communication while continuing to appear in court when necessary.
The office he founded, Peter W. Kolp PC, is set up to serve clients in New York and to handle matters that may require trial experience. He maintains ties to the legal community in the state and continues to accept cases that call for litigation skills developed over more than two decades. He currently practices litigation and trial work in New York.
