About Peter
Peter Vickery combines a background in law and public policy. He earned his Juris Doctor from Boston University in 1995. Fifteen years later he returned to academia and completed an MPPA in Public Policy and Administration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2010. The mix of legal training and public policy study shapes how he approaches matters that touch government processes and regulatory questions.
Early in his professional life he became active in the state's legal community. He has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1998. He joined the Hampshire County Bar Association in 2013 and has maintained that local affiliation alongside statewide membership. Outside bar organizations he is involved in national and ideological legal groups, holding memberships in the Federalist Society since 2013 and the Republican National Lawyers Association since 2016.
His public service includes a role on the State Ballot Law Commission in 2013. In that capacity he participated in review and deliberation over ballot-related matters at a time when state election questions drew close attention. That experience gave him exposure to administrative procedures and the mechanics of state election law, areas that intersect with both policy and litigation.
Vickery is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Those admissions allow him to take cases in state venues and to pursue appeals and federal filings that arise within the First Circuit's jurisdiction. His combined training in law and public administration informs his approach to cases that involve government actors or regulatory frameworks.
Colleagues describe him as someone who operates comfortably at the meeting point of legal analysis and policy context. He has moved between roles that require courtroom readiness and tasks that demand understanding of administrative processes. That versatility figures in how he prepares matters and advises clients on the procedural landscape they face.
Today he remains active in professional associations and in the legal affairs of his region. He continues to take part in conversations about election procedures and regulatory practice. His current practice focuses on matters arising in Massachusetts and on appellate work in the First Circuit.
