About Peter S.
Peter S. Vogel has been a visible presence in the Texas legal community for decades. He earned his J.D. in 1976 and built a career that bridges law, business and technology. Today he is a partner at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, where long experience in bar leadership informs his practice.
Vogel’s academic path combined business and law. He received a B.B.A. in accounting and marketing from The University of Texas School of Law in 1969, an M.S. from The American University in 1972, and his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1976. That mix of accounting, marketing and legal training underpins how he approaches client matters and internal firm governance.
His professional résumé includes significant service to professional organizations. He was the founding chair of the Computer & Technology Section of the State Bar of Texas in 1990 and remains involved in the section’s work. He served on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors from 1995 to 1998. In Dallas, he has a long record of engagement: he served as president of the Dallas Bar Association in 1994, and he was on the Dallas Bar Foundation’s board of trustees from 1995 to 2004, serving as chair in 2003. Those roles placed him at the intersection of bar administration, continuing legal education and community outreach.
Within the firm, Vogel is known for bringing a businesslike mindset to legal problems. His undergraduate training in accounting and marketing complements his legal work. Over the years he has participated in matters that involve the practical overlap of corporate practice and technology issues, and he has taken leadership roles in professional groups focused on those subjects. Colleagues and peers have looked to him for institutional knowledge about bar governance and for perspective on how technological developments affect practice and ethics.
Vogel’s career combines practice, service and organizational leadership. He continues to participate in State Bar and local bar activities while maintaining his partnership at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP. He currently focuses his practice on business and technology-related legal matters in Texas.
