Peter M. LaSorsa followed a winding path into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Bradley University in 1998 and completed his J.D. at John Marshall Law School in 2003. Those academic credentials set the stage for a career that moves between military service, corporate legal work, and private practice.
LaSorsa began his professional life in the military. He served as a sergeant in 1983 with the 10th Special Forces Group and later with the 19th and 20th Groups. A few years after that, in 1986, his work touched on intelligence, security and technology in capacities that are not publicly detailed. That early experience shaped a practical approach to legal problems and an understanding of discipline and structure.
After law school he worked in-house at Caterpillar Inc. in 2003. That role gave him exposure to corporate legal work and the kinds of compliance and transactional issues that large employers face. LaSorsa is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and has maintained that membership since 2003. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He also appears in multiple federal district courts across Illinois, including the Northern, Central and Southern districts.
