About Peter J.
Peter J. Weinman studied English at the College of Staten Island before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in English in 1985 and later returned to New York Law School, where he received his J.D. in 1997. Those early choices — literature followed by law — shaped a practice that blends communication and courtroom work.
He is licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey. His recorded career includes an early role as an associate lawyer in 2001 at an office styled Pete Weinman, Esq. Over the next decade he broadened his practice and in 2012 established Weinman Law Offices, PC, where he continues to work in private practice.
Weinman has long been active in professional and community organizations. He has served as a director of the Richmond County Bar Association since 2011, and he is an arbitrator for the Richmond County Civil Court Small Claims Part, a role he has held since 2005. He has volunteered with the Richmond County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyer Project, providing foreclosure representation since 2008. Those duties have kept him close to the practical realities of housing law in his community.
His involvement goes beyond the courthouse. He was a founding board member and trustee of New World Preparatory Charter School beginning in 2005. He holds memberships in the Staten Island Trial Lawyers Association and the Staten Island Women’s Bar Association. Since 2002 he has been associated with both the Staten Island Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, listed as a sponsor and member.
In 2022 Weinman added a certification as a Real Estate Instructor from the New York State Department of State. That credential supplements his work on real estate matters and allows him to teach aspects of state licensing and practice to others.
He brings those varied roles into a working practice that includes courtroom work, arbitration and instruction. Colleagues see him regularly at local bar association events and in community activities; he even plays outfield for a Staten Island Barristers men’s softball team, a long-running extracurricular interest dating to 2011.
His practice draws on experience in real estate matters, foreclosure representation and civil court proceedings. He maintains his private practice at Weinman Law Offices, PC, representing clients in those areas.
