About Peter J.

Peter J. Famighetti built his legal foundation on Long Island. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Long Island University’s C.W. Post campus and went on to the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he received his J.D. in 1999. The combination of local undergraduate study and a regional law degree shaped an early career tied closely to New York courts and county government.

After law school he moved into public service. In 2001 he served as a deputy county lawyer in the Office of the Nassau County Lawyer, handling matters for a municipal client and gaining courtroom and advisory experience. He returned to private practice over the next decade. By 2010 he was a senior associate at Leeds Brown, PC. The following year he joined Borrelli & Associates, PLLC as a senior associate. In 2014 he became a partner at Famighetti & Weinick, PLLC and has practiced there since; the partnership formalized his transition from associate roles to firm leadership.

Admissions to federal and appellate courts are part of his professional record. He has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York since 2002 and before the Southern District of New York since 2003. His admissions include the Second Circuit and the New York bar. He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, a membership he has held since 2013. These credentials reflect steady engagement with both trial and appellate dockets across state and federal forums.

Colleagues describe him as an attorney who has navigated both public-sector and private-practice environments. He has experience drafting pleadings, advising clients, and appearing in court at different levels. Today he is a partner at Famighetti & Weinick, PLLC, where he represents clients in matters brought in New York and in federal court, including appeals before the Second Circuit.
