About Peter J.
Peter J. Brewer grew up on a steady path through undergraduate and law school. He earned a B.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University in 2007, then completed his J.D. at Tulane University School of Law in 2010. Those years set the groundwork for a career that has moved between public service and private practice.
His first position after law school was as an associate at the Law Offices of Steve Kackley, PA in 2010. A year later he joined the State Lawyer's Office for the Tenth Circuit as an assistant state lawyer. That work gave him courtroom experience early on. It also exposed him to the pressures of public-sector representation and to the mechanics of criminal prosecutions in Florida's trial courts.
Brewer returned to private practice several years later. In 2016 he took on a partner role at the Law Offices of William B. Fletcher, PA. The title came during a period of steady professional advancement. In 2020 he became president of BrewerLegal, PA, a position that added firm leadership responsibilities to his caseload.
Throughout his career he has kept ties to professional organizations tied to criminal defense and local bar activities. He has been a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2016 and belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers starting in 2020. He joined the Willson American Inn of Court as an associate in 2019 and has been active in the Highlands County Bar Association, listed as president-elect beginning in 2016.
Brewer maintains an office presence under the name Brewer & Wilson, PLLC in Bartow. His years in both the public defender's office and private firms inform how he approaches client matters. He is familiar with trial practice in Florida courts and with the procedural steps that govern criminal cases at the circuit level.
