About Peter Andrew
Peter Andrew Koziol combines a technical background and legal training in intellectual property. He studied computer science at the State University of New York at Albany before attending Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he completed a J.D. and took concentrated coursework in law, technology and the arts. That mix of software knowledge and legal education informs his day-to-day work.
Koziol began his legal career after law school and moved into roles that bridged technology and law. Over time he built experience in patent prosecution and federal litigation. He is admitted to practice in Florida and before several federal courts, including the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit and the Federal Circuit. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
He is a partner at Assouline & Berlowe, P.A., where he handles matters involving patents, trademarks and licensing. His computer science training often comes into play when cases raise technical questions about software, systems or electronic devices. He works on patent applications and responds to office actions at the USPTO, and he represents clients in district court and appellate matters when disputes escalate.
Koziol maintains professional ties across legal and technical organizations. He holds membership in the American Bar Association, the Florida State Bar and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi, the International Barristers Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He also lists affiliation with the Structured Products Association, reflecting interest in complex commercial instruments and related legal issues.
Colleagues describe him as someone comfortable translating technical concepts into legal arguments. His training in computer science helps him evaluate prior art, draft technical specifications and advise inventors on disclosure. In practice, he handles the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, trademark filings and counseling on intellectual property strategy for clients across technology sectors.
Outside of case files he participates in association activities and stays current on developments in patent law and technology policy. He also engages with peers through bar groups and professional societies that span both law and engineering. He brings that cross-disciplinary perspective to client matters at Assouline & Berlowe, P.A.
He currently practices patent prosecution, trademark matters and related IP litigation at Assouline & Berlowe, P.A.
