Peng Chen is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1999. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Chen is a partner at Rimon PC, a law firm located in San Diego, California. He has been practicing law for over twenty-seven years, serving clients throughout the San Diego area and beyond.
Mr. Chen earned his Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School in 1997. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Beijing Normal University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986. He furthered his education by obtaining a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1993. During his time at Columbia Law School, he was involved in various academic and extracurricular activities, contributing to his comprehensive legal education.
Mr. Chen concentrates his practice in the areas of patent counseling and prosecution, patent litigation, and intellectual property law. He represents clients in matters involving patent reexaminations, interferences, IP due diligence, and technology transactions. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Chen has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has also appeared before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in various proceedings. Prior to joining Rimon PC, he worked at Morrison & Foerster LLP, where he was a partner from 2005 until his departure.
Mr. Chen is an active member of the State Bar of California and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has been recognized in the fields of biotechnology law, patent law, and patent litigation by Best Lawyers in America from 2009 to 2023. In 2018, he was selected as "Lawyer of the Year" in Patent Law in San Diego by Best Lawyers. He is fluent in English and Mandarin, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
