Janathan Lea Allen is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1995 and holds bar number 179650. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Allen is the founder of Allen Barron, Inc., a law firm located at 16745 West Bernardo Drive, Suite 260, San Diego, California 92127. She has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout San Diego County and the broader Southern California region.
Ms. Allen earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California, in 1995. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of Montana, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1975. She furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration in International Finance from the University of San Diego in 1992. Additionally, Ms. Allen earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1997.
Ms. Allen concentrates her practice in the areas of domestic and international tax law, business and commercial law, transactional planning, corporate and securities law, intellectual property law, and trusts and estates. She represents individuals and businesses in matters involving tax compliance and controversy, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, and corporate structuring. Her practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, negotiations, drafting of legal documents, and representation in both state and federal courts.
Throughout her career, Ms. Allen has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding her own firm, she worked as a tax director for Hybritech, Inc., and held positions as controller, chief financial officer, and legal counsel for several San Diego companies, including guiding one through an initial public offering.
Ms. Allen is an active member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, and the San Diego County Bar Association. She has been featured in San Diego Magazine's Best Lawyers Edition and has appeared on KOGO Radio in San Diego discussing tax strategies for individuals and businesses. Ms. Allen is fluent in English and has authored numerous business articles published across the United States and internationally. She is also a featured author in "The American," an international publication for U.S. expatriates.
